Welcome to the Centre

As a child of the Caribbean soil and a proud alumnus of The University of the West Indies (UWI), I have been an advocate for this University for many more than the eight years I have served as Vice Chancellor. As an internationally experienced Rheumatologist, having practiced and worked in world renowned medical centres and universities; I am convinced that our regional University is indeed setting the standard for Caribbean excellence.

Our University is committed to unlocking the potential of the Caribbean’s best and brightest students, researchers and academics. I have myself experienced the fulfillment that comes from helping to change lives through my work as a medical practitioner and researcher developing the anticardiolipin diagnostic test for Antiphospholipid Syndrome, and as an administrator. I am therefore extremely proud to serve at the helm of an institution that continues to produce world class scholars; those who go out and change their societies and by extension their world.

My vision is for  UWI to be the first choice of Caribbean nationals seeking high quality undergraduate and graduate education; the institution that will be first in providing new knowledge through research contributing  to growth, development and transformation of the region; and the port of first call for Caribbean governments wishing advice and technical expertise.

I extend a warm welcome to all our prospective students, current students, researchers, staff members, graduates and all visitors to this site. I appreciate your support and interest in The University of the West Indies and hope you will find this site useful in providing information on my role and work as Vice Chancellor and the operations of this office.
